Presented by: Nature Ed-Ventures Location: Camp Allegany, Allegany State Park Time: 10:00-3:30 (Times can be adjusted) Dates: March 4,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,13,14 ONLY Standards: MS T: 1,4,6 ELA: 1,4Fee: Additional fee which is aidable through the BOCES Environmental CoSer; Must reserve through Environmental Ed two months ahead to receive aid Description: Students will need to bring a sack lunch and appropriate clothes for the weather. Students will work with a Naturalist from Nature Ed-Ventures to learn about maple sugaring. They will be divided into small groups and rotate through indoor and outdoor teaching stations that include the history of maple sugar making. They will visit Native American and early settlers sugaring camps and a 1940’s sugar house. Indoors they will discover the magic that lurks inside the trunk of a maple tree through a variety of hands-on, scientific investigations.
